Great part of the discoveries in the world of the investigation originates in a casual way.
This same step with the discovery of the penicillin.
Fleming was working with some bacterias called golden estafilococos, accidentally, he/she discovered that these were destroyed by a very common mushroom originated by the decomposition of certain substances.
This British scientist discovered, without intending it, the power germicide of this called mold
Penicillium Notatum, that is to say, the penicillin.
Thanks to this casual one he/she was discovered an universal remedy against many microbial illnesses.
Until that moment much people died for illnesses that today, we find very simple.
